In August, EarthWares, 37 N. Cedar Street, will host the work of individuals who participate in Pacesetters’ “Painting the Tale” art program. The opening is this Friday, August 1st, from 5 until 8 p.m. At the opening, Travis Jarrell will present a dance performance. Travis was a visiting artist at Pacesetters in February, and will begin a dance program at Pacesetters’ Putnam Center this coming year. The exhibit will feature ceramic polar bears created in February during visiting artist Linda Johnson’s workshop. Also on display will be drawings of birds, especially Sandhill cranes, and endangered species, such as elephants and polar bears, created over the last three years. Prints and cards will also be available. Sales for the month of August will help establish a fund to enable the Pacesetters' Painting the Tale program to apply for matching grants. Grants from the Cookeville Arts Council supported both Linda Johnson and Travis Jarrell as visiting artists at Pacesetters.
